Kentucky Senator Rand Paul is set to speak at an event at Chao Auditorium on Oct. 15. The event is co-hosted by the U of L Federalist Society and the McConnell Center to commemorate 250 years of the United States being an independent country. The event starts at 5:30 p.m. and is expected to run for an hour.

Senator Paul’s speech will focus on connecting the founding of the United States to modern understanding of the rule of law.

Mary Beth Latham, the president of U of L’s chapter of the Federalist Society, said that the senator will cover “the history of the Declaration of Independence, influential founding ideas, separation of powers, federalism and the connection between individual liberty and moral responsibility.”

Latham notes that Senator Paul will take audience questions if time permits.

To RSVP to the event, interested parties can email Latham at [email protected].
