The greatest threat facing the US is not an external enemy, but the ballooning national debt, Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky said as the Pentagon seeks an additional $67 billion for the conflict with Iran. With the federal deficit already at $2 trillion, Paul argued that increasing military spending for a war that Congress hasn’t authorized is “fiscally irresponsible.”
