Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) invoked former President Ronald Reagan’s limited-government philosophy, arguing that Washington’s promises have done little to ease the challenges facing younger Americans.
Rand Paul Says Washington Is Failing Gen Z
On Tuesday, in a post on X, Paul said Generation Z was confronting a housing crisis and economic uncertainty while the government continued promising solutions.
“Gen Z is facing a housing crisis, economic uncertainty, and a government that keeps promising to fix both,” he said.
“Reagan’s lesson still stands: Washington isn’t the solution. It’s usually the problem,” he added.

Reagan’s Conservative Legacy Remains Relevant
Paul also shared a Washington Examiner article published last month titled “Dear Gen Z: Reagan is not a relic,” which argued that Reagan’s conservative principles remain relevant to younger generations.
The article cited Reagan’s famous declaration that “government is not the solution to our problem — government is the problem,” arguing that excessive government intervention can undermine the role of families, communities and other institutions.
It said young Americans needed opportunities to work, marry, raise families and buy homes, adding that the answer could not simply be another government program.

Gen Z’s Financial and Housing Struggles
Earlier this year, financial expert Dave Ramsey praised Gen Z and millennials as “the easiest generations to lead,” while warning that credit card debt, expensive car leases and student loans had contributed to their financial struggles.
He urged young people to eliminate unnecessary debt and take control of their finances.
Last year, The Kobeissi Letter said that the U.S. housing market was “broken,” noting that average new single-family home prices had fallen below existing-home prices for the first time in 54 years.
The post warned that the unusual pricing reversal could signal deeper structural problems in the housing market.
US Housing Affordability Crisis Worsened
Last week, J.P. Morgan analysts warned that high mortgage rates, housing shortages and stagnant income growth had left the U.S. housing market “frozen.”
They said homeownership had become increasingly unaffordable, with mortgage purchase applications falling to their lowest level since 1995 and typical monthly mortgage payments reaching about $2,800.

Building a resilient portfolio means thinking beyond a single asset or market trend. Economic cycles shift, sectors rise and fall, and no one investment performs well in every environment. That’s why many investors look to diversify with platforms that provide access to real estate, fixed-income opportunities, precious metals, and even self-directed retirement accounts. By spreading exposure across multiple asset classes, it becomes easier to manage risk, capture steady returns, and create long-term wealth that isn’t tied to the fortunes of just one company or industry.
